KISS Eric Carr pre Kiss band The Cellarmen 1965 21″ Bass Drumhead then Custom Repainted 1967 by Eric Carr w/ Multi-Color Stars Design — Here’s the full history of the piece — If you google search Eric Carr The Cellerman, the photos shown are of Eric playing his 1st Ludwig Beatles inspired drum set with The Cellerman logo bass drumhead on it that Eric designed and hand painted in 1965 — Then in 1967, Eric wanted to alter this drum head because he modified his entire drum layout; Eric added a 2nd drum set containing a 2nd bass drum.
The new 2nd bass drum front head was given the newly designed “The Cellerman” logo by Eric, while this original front bass drumhead, was then altered with a custom hand painted design by Eric, which served to further enhance his revamped drumset’s look. Eric chose to use neon paint for the multi-color stars night sky design so it would standout when a blacklight was used while performing.
Now if you turn this stars design original drumhead around to the backside, you can clearly see Eric simply painted over the original The Cellarmen logo with the stars design — So this is a very historic piece — it came from his First set of drums and was used from 1965-1969 for the entire history of The Cellermen. Furthermore, it’s a little known fact, he also used this bass drumhead for a short time with another one of his band’s called, Salt and Pepper — formely owned by the Caravello family.
